From the requirements you’ve listed, (a live-well, rod-holder, & "don’t want to get very wet"), you may want to think about purchasing a canoe.

Although they do make some Kayaks with a space for a small cooler, it is not mandatory. (And if you decide to strap a cooler on any ‘ole ‘Yak it will likely cause it to flip or be un-safe while paddling.) Most ‘Yaks with areas for coolers will be fishing oriented and not cheap.

As you can see, an "angler designed" Yak can get expensive!!

    Options?

Well……. you can get a cheaper Yak and install some of the things you requested. Or you can look into purchasing a canoe.

Add some aftermarket swivel rod-holders and bungee a SMALL cooler and you’d be set.

The only other options you have is to find a used one in your area and modify it.

Hope this extra info helps ya? Good luck in your search.

Where about are you in the world? You will be able to find a very decent second hand one for that price

For $650 you should be able to get a pretty nice boat. I think a 10 footer should do you well.

be sure to specify a fishing kayak.
check on craigslist or ebay for a good used "sit on top" model. you should be able to find one well within your budget.
cobra, ocean kayak, hobie and many others all make good yaks. l use a cobra "fish n dive" myself. most used ones you find will already be rigged with a good seat, rod holders and hatches with covers. there is usually space in the rear to strap down an ice chest or bucket.
and most made for fishing are quite stable.
a 12′ long one would give you plenty of space for fishing and all your gear.
mine has 4 rod holders, 2 hatches and a depth finder with the transducer glued inside with silicon. the beams travel through the hull with no problems.

  7. @admin: I must say your site is the first I’ve come across today that doesn’t have spelling errors every other sentence. Thanks for taking the time to write something that doesn’t look like a 5th grader wrote. Sorry, just had to vent.
